Community
Homes
Hattie Larlham’s
community homes are designed and tailored
to make all individuals as comfortable as
possible. Each house not only has the warm,
inviting atmosphere every home should have,
but also has the added bonus of universal
design to ensure everything is accessible.
Handrails and ramps located
throughout the homes ensure each room, door
and hallway is accessible to all individuals.
Wider hallways give individuals in wheelchairs
enough room to freely move throughout the
house. Some kitchens contain baseboard cutouts
to allow easy access to cupboards, cabinets
and countertops. Bathrooms contain roll-in
wheelchair accessible showers and baseboard
cutouts for easy sink access.
Accessibility isn’t
the only focus of our community homes. We
feel every one is entitled to privacy. At
our homes, individuals have their own room
and private area they can go to when they
want to be alone or just relax. Individuals
are encouraged to decorate and furnish their
rooms to fit their personalities, styles
and needs.
All these features, combined
with our caring staff, give individuals
a house to live in and, more importantly,
a place they can call home.
