Vocation
Services
Hattie Larlham offers
several vocational opportunities for adults
with developmental disabilities. We are
a provider of a full-range of day services
that can accommodate all programming needs
for all levels of disability. Vocational
options include:
ACHIEVE
is a day program specializing in individuals
with medically fragile conditions.
Supported
Employment is a collaboration between
area professional organizations and Hattie
Larlham that helps individuals find, obtain
and keep a job.
Vocational
Habilitation Employment opportunities
help individuals develop skills within the
community.
ACHIEVE
Hattie
Larlham Community Living serves the day
habilitation/activity needs of a very specialized
developmental disabilities population. Physical,
nutritional, emotional and learning needs
are addressed and tended to every day by
dedicated and competent staff working in
the ACHIEVE (Achieving Challenging Habilitation
In Educational and Vocational Experiences)
program.
Through art projects,
crafts, adaptive equipment and the use of
switch technology, each individual receives
a minimum of four hours of stimulating and
exciting programming activities that promote
prevocational and vocational skills while
providing a long-term basis for self improvement
on a daily basis.
Flexibility is built into
the system to meet the unique needs of all
the individuals in ACHIEVE. The program
is designed to meet or exceed the standards
for day activity required for Intermediate
Care Facilities for Individuals with Mental
Retardation (ICFMR) and day habilitation
requirements from Ohio Department of Developmental
Disabilities. Additionally, all staff members
have taken additional training to meet the
ODMRDD certification and registration requirements.
The ACHIEVE rooms are
stocked with a variety of supplies and adapted
equipment for art projects, crafts, special
projects and multi-sensory activities that
include touch screen notebook computers.
We also have the use of
a multi-sensory room, hydrotherapy pool,
music room, greenhouse room, technology
room, theatre room and activity courts.
During beautiful summer days, we have access
to an adapted park and nature walkway located
just outside our facility doors.
Developing community awareness
and accessing community resources through
community trips is also an important aspect
of the ACHIEVE program. The staff takes
small groups into the community several
times a week using our accessible van.
The ACHIEVE program is
a certified provider of day habilitation
through I.O. or Level 1 waiver funding and
is open to all adults receiving these resources.
Supported Employment
Hattie Larlham provides
two supported employment options to accommodate
individuals during each step of the employment
process.
Hattie Larlham Professional Collaborations
Hattie Larlham partners
with area professional organizations to
help individuals with disabilities find,
obtain and keep steady employment. Through
these collaborations, potential employees
are encouraged to determine the type of
job they want, find a job tailored to their
skill set, manage challenges while working,
receive job coaching and follow-along support
and participate in a peer job club or support
network.
To become eligible for
this supported employment opportunity, individuals
must be eligible for services through the
Bureau of Vocational Services (BVR) and
receive support through an I.O. or Level
1 waiver.
Hattie Larlham Follow-Along Support
Hattie Larlham offers
independent follow-along support services
for individuals who already have steady
employment. Individuals who receive waiver
services are eligible to choose Hattie Larlham
Community Living as a provider of employment
services.
