Programs
Operated out of the Hattie
Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities
(HLCCD) education center, the community
school provides educational services for
children with disabilities who are unable
to attend an offsite school or who choose
to receive services at the HLCCD. Students
who attend the community school receive
a goal-orientated, modified curriculum that
promotes learning and development and meets
Ohio Academic Content Standards.
The community school provides
services for individuals in kindergarten-twelfth
grade. Areas of study focused on at the
community school include, English language
arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
The school exposes each student to grade-appropriate
curriculum via the use of multi-media, adaptive
equipment and a multi-disciplinary staff.
Daily schedules are designed
to incorporate each individual’s abilities
and skill level. While maintaining a predictable
routine, schedules allow flexibility to
respond to individuals’ unique needs
that may change throughout the day. Students
who attend the community school engage in
a variety of activities that stimulate their
development. Students also have access to
the aquatic room,
multi-sensory
room and sensory
walk and playground during their school
day.
Hattie Larlham also provides
educational services through its daycare
center CALICO.
