Residential
Care for Children
The Hattie Larlham Center for Children
with Disabilities
Located on 27 acres in
Mantua, Ohio, the Hattie Larlham Center
for Children with Disabilities (HLCCD) is
home to 126 children and young adults with
mental retardation and developmental disabilities
(MR/DD) and medically fragile conditions.
The home-like environment
at the HLCCD promotes interaction with peers
and family members. Comfortable, quiet areas
allow families to visit with loved ones
without feeling rushed or in the way of
daily operations. Large, open recreation
spaces bring individuals, families and friends
together for activities.
Currently, an expansion
project is underway at the Hattie Larlham
Center for Children with Disabilities. This
project is funded by the Hope
At Work
capital campaign. Learn more about the
capital campaign

Features
Families can take advantage
of the beautifully landscaped outdoors utilizing
the wheelchair accessible paths leading
to the equally accessible NaturAll
sensory walk and adaptive playground.
Individuals can also spend time with loved
ones swimming in the aquatic
room or playing in the multi-sensory
room. Family visits and social interaction
is encouraged at Hattie Larlham. For extended
visits, Hattie Larlham provides a family
respite suite, where families can stay
to be close to their child or sibling with
a disability.
Living Areas
The HLCCD strives to be
a home away from home for each individual.
Five individualized living units include
all the amenities of home for the individuals
who live there. Each unit consists of bedrooms,
bathing facilities and a central living
area.
Each living area is decorated
like a typical family home. School pictures
and children’s artwork decorate the
living area walls. Central living areas
have entertainment equipment, dining tables,
games and toys. Bedrooms feature furnishings
and décor tailored to the preferences
of each individual.
