Hattie Larlham to Host a “Celebration
of Life”
(MANTUA, Ohio)
August 7, 2009 – On Tuesday,
Aug.11 at 4 p.m. at the Hattie Larlham Center
for Excellence, Hattie Larlham will host
a “Celebration of Life” to mark
the official opening of the Life Achievement
Center. The completion of the center signals
a significant step forward for Hattie Larlham
as it continually strives to better serve
those with disabilities.
The goal of the center
is to provide outpatient services for people
with disabilities living in Northeast Ohio.
It can be a challenge for a person with
disabilities to perform a task as routine
as going to the dentist. At the Life Achievement
Center, the dental offices will be specifically
equipped to handle patients with special
needs. This is just one example of how the
center improves the quality of life for
people with disabilities living in Northeast
Ohio.
Aside from its medical,
dental and therapy outpatient services,
The Life Achievement Center also houses
a multi-sensory room, therapy pool, resource
library stocked with specialty adapted toys
for children with disabilities and a birthday
room.
The Life Achievement
Center is also home to Hattie Larlham’s
7,000 square-foot Play Center, where many
of the organization’s popular camps
are held.
Thanks to the Life
Achievement Center’s central location
between Akron and Cleveland, those with
special needs in Northeast Ohio will no
longer need to commute long distances in
order to obtain the essential services they
require.
Everyone in attendance
at this “Celebration of Life”
event will have an opportunity to tour the
center to see this beautiful new facility
first hand.
This ceremony will
also commemorate the completion of renovations
on Hattie Larlham’s main facility,
the Hattie Larlham Center for Excellence.
The Life Achievement
Center was funded through the Hope at Work
capital project. To date, more than 13.7
million of the $16 million goal has been
raised strictly through donations.

Diagonal Road in Mantua.
