Glamour

Hollywood

On
Saturday,
Sept.
26,
Hattie
Larlham
brought
the
glitz
and
glamour
of
Hollywood
to
the
Akron
Civic
Theatre
for
Hattie
Larlham
Presents
Hollywood.
In
total,
300
guests
joined
the
organization
for
an
evening
of
films,
food
and
fun
to
support
Hattie
Larlham’s
Summit
County
programs.
Those
in
attendance
got
their
photos
snapped
on
the
red
carpet
as
they
made
their
way
inside,
where
they
mingled
with
look-alikes
of
Hollywood
icons
Dolly
Parton,
Cher,
Carol
Burnett,
Phyllis
Diller
and
others.
From
there,
guests
viewed
the
collection
of
Hollywood
costumes
and
jewelry
from
Richard
John
of
Hood
and
Hoover
Jewelers.
This
was
one
of
John’s
largest
public
viewings.
In
total,
he
displayed
nearly
75
costumes
and
four
cases
of
jewelry
and
other
accessories
from
his
vast
collection.
Shortly
after
viewing
the
collection,
guests
enjoyed
dinner
from
Robert
J.
Events
&
Catering
before
heading
inside
the
theatre
for
a
presentation
of
old
silver
screen
movie
clips.
The
clips
featured
actors
and
actresses
whose
wardrobes
were
on
display
in
John’s
collection.
During
the
clips,
celebrity
look-alikes
modeling
costumes
from
John’s
collection
appeared
on
the
stage.
Dolly
Parton,
Liberace,
Phyllis
Diller,
Cher,
Carol
Burnett,
Lucille
Ball,
Carol
Channing,
Totie
Fields
and
Ethel
Merman
were
among
the
classic
celebrities
depicted.
Guests
enjoyed
a
light
dessert
before
the
close
of
the
evening.
A
few
lucky
attendees
won
door
prizes
from
the
event,
including
replica
jewelry
of
items
in
Richard
John’s
collection
and
a
gift
basket
donated
by
the
Akron
Beacon
Journal.
One
guest
won
a
raffle
for
an
all-expense
paid
trip
to
see
a
live
taping
of
Dancing
with
the
Stars.
All
of
the
proceeds
from
the
event
benefited
Hattie
Larlham’s
Summit
County
programs,
which
include
Hattie’s
Café
&
Gifts,
Hattie
Larlham
Doggie
Day
Care
&
Boarding,
Constant
Companions
and
Ability
at
Work.
Hattie
Larlham
Presents
Hollywood
was
co-chaired
by
Mary
Ann
Jackson
and
Jacquie
Mabry
and
sponsored
by
Summa
Health
System.
WDOK’s
Terry
Moir
emceed
the
event.
During
the
event,
Hattie
Larlham
CEO
Dennis
Allen
thanked
attendees
for
their
ongoing
support
of
Hattie
Larlham.
Additionally,
a
young
woman
who
receives
services
from
Hattie
Larlham’s
Summit
County
services
made
a
special
speech
that
left
guests
with
the
understanding
that
while
Hollywood
stars
may
be
glamorous,
the
greatest
stars
of
all
are
those
who
work
to
uplift
others.
