Art showing at the Breckenridge Village Cultural Arts Gallery
(MANTUA, Ohio) Feb. 1, 2010 – Artwork created by people with disabilities will be on display from Friday, Feb. 5 to Monday, March 29 at The Mahan and Cultural Arts Center on the campus of Breckenridge Village retirement community in Willoughby, Ohio.
Viewing hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or by contacting Debora Erksa-Adams, director of cultural arts and life enrichment, at 440.954.8342.
The works were created in Hattie Larlham Creative Arts. Professional artists work with more than 80 people with developmental disabilities to create paintings, pottery, photography and poetry.
The professional artists use specialized techniques and a series of yes or no questions to interpret artists’ thoughts, many of whom do not have the use of their arms and legs, to create masterful showpieces.
Paintings have been on display in University Hospitals, Standing Rock Cultural Arts, Progressive Insurance, Blossom Music Center Eells Gallery, Kent State University’s Downtown Gallery and all Hattie’s Café’s in the Akron and Cleveland areas.
