paired
up
for
a
week-long
awareness
event
to
support
and
benefit
people
with
disabilities
in
our
communities.
The
campus-wide
event
was
book-ended
by
home
football
games
on
Saturday,
September
19
and
26.
Huddle
Up
for
Hattie
Larlham
kicked
off
on
September
19,
when
Kent
State
University
played
Iowa
State.
Hattie
Larlham
was
designated
as
the
captain
of
this
game.
But
the
event
actually
started
much
earlier
in
September
as
participating
fraternities
and
sororities
sold
tickets
to
the
football
game
scheduled
for
the
following
weekend,
Saturday,
September
26.
Ticket
sales
for
that
game,
where
the
Kent
State
University
Golden
Flashes
will
play
the
Miami
University
Redhawks
as
part
of
Kent
State
University’s
Parent’s
Weekend
benefited
Hattie
Larlham
and
people
with
disabilities.
The
Kent
State
University
Athletics
Department
also
donated
new
Nintendo
Wii
as
the
raffle
prize.
Hattie
Larlham,

a
copy
of
Rock
Band
2
to
the
raffle.
During
the
week
and
between
the
two
football
games,
Hattie
Larlham
staff
was
on
the
Kent
State
University
campus,
hosting
various
public
awareness
events.
Hattie
Larlham
and
Kent
State
University
have
a
long
tradition
of
volunteer
projects
and
community
partnerships.
Since
2006,
hundreds
of
Kent
State
University
students
have
donated
more
than
3,000
hours
of
their
time.
In
2008
and
2009,
Kent
State
University
honored
Hattie
Larlham
with
the
Outstanding
Community
Partnership
award.
