Connect with Art Camp helps children express themselves with art. In conjunction with Creative Arts, children experience different types of art media like painting, pottery and musical expression. This summer camp encourages children on the autism spectrum or children with sensory processing issues to explore their environment through a week of fun with art.
Each Connect with Art Camp attendee will be given a chance to try out different art media and then are encouraged to return to the art medium they enjoy the most. Art projects created at Connect with Art Camp will be available to take home two weeks after the summer camp is over.
When Connect with Art Camp attendees are not in art sessions, they will get to take part in summer camp activities. Connect with Art Camp includes outdoor play time at the sensory playground, water play, bike riding and activity stations during unscheduled time slots.
Connect with Art Camp attendees will get to swim in the indoor heated swimming pool each week. Staff encourages summer campers to feel comfortable and independent in the water or use floating devices as needed. The camper-to-staff ratio leads to a safe and secure environment.
Connect with Art Camp attendees are asked to bring a lunch, change of clothes and swimsuit each camp day. Hattie Larlham is a secure facility and summer campers must be signed in and out by a parent, guardian or designated adult.
Hattie Larlham requires summer camp attendees complete and return a registration form (PDF). Hattie Larlham staff encourages parents to bring interested campers in for a tour and interview.
Connect with Art Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A pre-camp and post-camp is available for parents who need to drop off their children early or pick them up later than the scheduled camp times. Connect with Art Camp pre-camp hours are 6:30 to 9 a.m. Post-camp hours are 3 to 5 p.m.
