It takes a cohesive team to deliver comprehensive medical care to each person with developmental disabilities living at the Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities. The medical care team has the experience and training to administer needed medications and specialized treatments to people with developmental disabilities. Care is delivered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by three shifts of medical staff.
Hattie Larlham’s medical team is led by a medical director, a director of nursing and two nurse practitioners who manage care and provide leadership. There is continual communication among the medical staff to ensure each person with developmental disabilities receives the care they require and deserve.
Communication is also provided to the families of people with developmental disabilities by Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professionals (QDDPs). The QDDPs serve as the mediator between the medical team and families and oversee medication, hygiene, financial management and monitor the progress of people with developmental disabilities to ensure their goals are being met.
Hattie Larlham also has an onsite nutrition services department that serves nearly 500 meals a day. Each meal plan is designed and tailored to meet the nutritional requirements of each person with developmental disabilities.
For medical needs requiring a specialist, Hattie Larlham offers a medical annex for visiting specialists. The unit has five different exam rooms that accommodate neurology, podiatry and dental care. This makes it convenient for residents to stay on site.
