Typically, residential services for children and young adults are provided at the Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities in Mantua, Ohio. Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities

The Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities is a home for 130 children and young adults with developmental disabilities.

Hattie Larlham is a home, not just a medical center. The Center for Children with Disabilities features a theater room, with a giant wall screen and booming acoustics; a warm-water pool; and a multisensory room filled with twinkling and relaxing lights. There are rooms for families to gather. Open areas naturally lit by large windows and skylights provide for socialization and play.

A rite of passage for children growing up has always been bedroom decorating. Posters of favorite bands hang from the walls. Glow-in-the-dark stars and planets are placed on the ceiling. And toy chests overflowing with toys lay in the corner of the room. At the Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities, bedrooms are personally decorated by the children and their families. A typical room includes family photos, TVs, radios, books and the children’s favorite toys.

The Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities sits on 27 acres in the cozy town of Mantua, Ohio. The NaturAll Walkway features multi-sensory and playground equipment like slides and swings adapted for children in wheelchairs. Shady overhangs and wheelchair ramps are included to seamlessly blend the abilities of all children. Adjacent to the playground is an area that is camper-ready with water hookup and a fire pit, perfect for families who like an extended visit with their loved one.
