The
Hattie
Larlham
Autism
Preschool
provides
stimulating
learning
materials
and
educational
activities
for
preschool
children
with
and
without
autism.
Students
are
given
the
ability
to
explore,
play
and
grow
every
day
in
a
warm
and
engaging
environment.
The
preschool
provides
one-to-one
and
small
group
instruction
in
an
integrated
classroom
setting
of
children
with
and
without
autism.
The
classroom
allows
for
a
maximum
ratio
of
six
children
with
autism
and
four
children
without
disabilities.
The
Hattie
Larlham
Autism
Preschool
provides
curriculum-based
program
approved
by
the
Ohio
Department
of
Education
Monday
through
Thursday
for
children
ages
3
to
5
years
old.
On
Fridays,
students
attend
a
Sensory
Camp
that
encourages
sensory
exploration.
Children
also
have
access
daily
to
The
Play
Center
and
sensory
rooms,
as
well
as
weekly
access
to
the
on-site
pool.
This
educational
initiative
provides
evidence
and
individual-based
services
to
preschool
age
children
with
a
primary
diagnosis
of
autism.
The
preschool
incorporates
the
HighScope
education
curriculum
and
the
SCERTS
model
into
the
classroom.
The
program
also
provides
transactional
support
to
assist
in
the
successful
transition
of
the
preschool
child
to
kindergarten.
The
preschool
is
a
collaborative
program
between
the
Hattie
Larlham
Research
Institute,
the
Portage
County
Educational
Service
Center
and
Kent
State
University.
