Services
Hattie Larlham is a not-for-profit
organization that provides quality care
to children and adults with mental retardation
and developmental disabilities (MR/DD).
Through residential, respite/private duty
home care and vocational programs, our services
not only benefit the individuals we serve,
but also their families, loved ones and
surrounding communities.
The majority of the children
and adults we serve at Hattie Larlham have
cerebral palsy and profound/severe mental
and motor retardation including prenatal
disorders, birth-related injury, brain malformation,
traumatic brain injury, autism, prematurity
and severe infection.
Other medical complications
often arise in people diagnosed as having
mental retardation and/or developmental
disabilities. Hattie Larlham is able to
work with these complications. These may
include seizures, pneumonia, asthma, osteoporosis,
scoliosis, hearing and/or visual impairment
or motor dysfunction.
Residential Care
For more than 45 years,
Hattie Larlham has provided a home to individuals
with MR/DD. From the Hattie
Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities
(HLCCD) in Mantua to its 24 community-based
homes located throughout Ohio.

Respite/Private Duty Home Care
Parents who have a loved
one with medical concerns or specific conditions
such as mental retardation may find it difficult
to find a qualified caregiver to take care
of their child in their absence. At Hattie
Larlham, we specifically train our care
providers to work in home settings.
Our qualified nursing
professionals, through one-on-one interactive
meetings, develop a personalized care program
centered around your loved one’s specific
needs and requirements. Once this plan has
been established and agreed upon, our nursing
staff instructs your assigned care provider
on how to best care for and assist your
child or loved one.

Education Programs
Hattie Larlham provides
individuals with education services through
its daycare
center CALICO and its in-house community
school. These programs provide learning
opportunities to individuals with disabilities
in grades kindergarten through 12 on a daily
basis.
Vocation Programs
Through
the use of vocational
programs integrated with cutting-edge
technology, individuals at Hattie Larlham
are able to participate in projects and
learning experiences that many similar programs
are unable to offer. Each person receives
individualized care that promotes prevocational
and vocational skills while providing a
long-term basis for self improvement. The
programs also help develop community awareness
through field trips and community involvement
projects.
Foster Care
Hattie Larlham recognizes
the importance of involving parents and
loved ones in the foster care process. Through
our foster care program, parents or loved
ones are included in many decisions including
what types of care the individual receives
to how involved the parents or loved ones
remain with the individual. The goal of
our program is to achieve long-term placement
of individuals into loving, caring homes.
