Hattie’s Doggie Day Care of Twinsburg Celebrates 10 Years of Caring, Welcomes Mayor Yates
On Wednesday, August 19, Hattie’s Doggie Day Care & Boarding celebrated ten years of business at their Twinsburg location with an open house celebration. The event welcomed current customers and their four-legged friends, as well as members of the community and local business leaders. Guests were given tours of the newly-renovated facility, located on Darrow Road alongside the Summit County Humane Society.
At the event, Hattie’s Doggie Day Care staff were honored to welcome Twinsburg Mayor Ted Yates, who awarded a certificate of congratulations for the milestone anniversary. “Congratulations Hattie’s Doggie Day Care on your 10 year anniversary! I appreciate your commitment to the City of Twinsburg,” said Yates. “Your corporate goals of ‘comfort, joy and achievement’ are apparent in your day-to-day operations and the impact you have in the lives of those with developmental disabilities. Can’t wait to see what your team accomplishes in the years to come!” Hattie Larlham Director of Employment Services Laura Walker, Hattie’s Doggie Day Care Twinsburg Facility Supervisor Aubrey Dreger, and Hattie Larlham Work Training Coordinator Chad Kelly graciously accepted the certificate and gave Mayor Yates a full guided tour of the facility.
Hattie’s Doggie Day Care & Boarding is a social enterprise operated by Hattie Larlham, a nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of services throughout Northeast and Central Ohio to children and adults with disabilities. Beyond the typical dog day care and overnight dog boarding services offered, Hattie’s Doggie Day Care & Boarding is also a work training program for adults with developmental disabilities. Trainees work with Hattie Larlham job coaches to learn valuable, transferrable on-the-job skills, including customer service, custodial tasks, time management, self-direction, and workplace communication. These skills help prepare each trainee to reach their individual goals of competitive community employment.
In addressing the success Hattie’s Doggie Day Care has achieved in the last decade, Hattie Larlham Vice President Kim Bartell said, “I would like to thank the Twinsburg community and our loyal customers for their support over the last 10 years! Their patronage, and enthusiasm for spreading the word about our program, ensures that Hattie Larlham can continue providing important work training services to those with developmental disabilities while also providing a valuable service to dog owners in our community.”
Director of Vocational Services Laura Walker echoed Kim’s sentiment, sharing, “I am overjoyed with the support received by the Twinsburg and Hudson communities for our work training program for adults with developmental disabilities. Because of your support, we are able to make employment opportunities a reality for participants in our program. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of taking care of your dogs and I look forward to the years to come!”
