Hattie Larlham uses an individualized approach to help adults with disabilities begin their journey to employment and achieve their goals.
Everyone's journey to employment is different, but our end goal for you remains the same: to find and maintain a job you love in the community.
We meet you where you are and develop an individualized plan designed to help you build skills needed to compete for community employment.
Our team will provide you with opportunities to explore different types of employment and job types and match you to the position that’s right for you. Your experience may include some or all of the following phases:
Worksite Coordination/Development
Based on a job seeker's interests and strengths, we identify and make arrangements with local businesses for job trials.
Community-Based Assessment/Work Adjustment
A paid job trial is used to identify a person’s work strengths and weaknesses or work on an identified area of weakness to prepare for competitive employment.
Job-Seeking Skills Training
This training helps job seekers build interview skills, develop a resume and learn how to look for a job.
Job Placement Assistance
We offer one-on-one support to find, apply to and interview for a job within the community.
Job Coaching
Job coaches provide temporary, one-on-one, on-the-job support to assist someone as they learn job tasks and work behaviors.
Job Retention/Follow Along
Retention services help stabilize and maintain competitive employment. Services can be provided on a short-term or long-term basis.
Career Exploration
Explore the local job market by touring worksites and completing informational interviews with various businesses of interest.
Discovery
A team-based process that identifies interests, strengths, accommodations and supports to determine a person’s path to employment. The person will end the program with a detailed discovery profile which will assist the person as they seek competitive employment.
Work Training
Hattie’s Doggie Day Care & Boarding is a Hattie Larlham social enterprise work training program in Northeast Ohio. This would be a good place to begin your journey if you are interested in a career in animal care or want to build other skills such as customer service, self- direction, and time management.
Here, you will receive training to care for the dogs but also learn how to work independently or as part of a team. After you complete training, you will have the skills you need to compete for jobs in the community.
STEP: Supported Employment Transition Program
In partnership with Summa Health, Hattie Larlham’s STEP program provides people with disabilities valuable opportunities to learn transferrable job skills through job try-outs and on-the-job coaching to support them on their individual path to competitive employment. Through this innovative program, job trainees gain an in-depth understanding of the opportunities available to them in the healthcare field and receive guided support in identifying the jobs they’re best suited for.
Integrated Lines
If you’re interested in a manufacturing job in Northeast Ohio and want to work in a team, integrated lines would be a good place to begin your employment journey. A job coach is available on-site, works alongside the team and will help you learn the job and answer any questions you may have about your tasks.
Many people who began their journey working for integrated lines have advanced to different areas of the company and joined the organization as a full-time, permanent employee.
